Sexual Orientation
There are many complicated concepts for the idea of Queer, including the very many different sexualities. Here are a few ones and their differences. Don't feel pressured to ever put a label on yourself; sometimes we just don't know. You should just love who you love!
Sexuality
What is Sexual Orientation?
Sexual Orientation refers to what gender or genders a person is interested in sexually.
Heterosexual/Straight
Being heterosexual means that a person is sexually attracted to the opposite sex or gender.
Homosexual/Gay
Homosexual is the opposite of heterosexual and means that a person is sexually attracted to the same sex or gender.
Bisexual
Bisexuals are attracted to two (or more) sexes or genders.
Okay, okay, I bet you knew those last few but here are some new ones.
Asexual
Asexuals do not experience any sexual attraction to any gender or sex. No, it doesn't mean they can't have sex, it just means that they don't have any desire to. No, it won't change when they meet the right person- that is just who they are.
Pansexual
No, no, no. Pansexual does not mean sexually attracted to pans. It means All Sexual.... That doesn't mean animals either. All people, no matter what gender they define themselves as or sexual organs they have. Pansexuals are people who are sexually attracted to individuals regardless of their gender or sex.
Demisexual
A person who can only feel sexual attraction after an emotional bond is formed.
Questioning
Questioning means that you don't know your sexuality and that you are questioning it. Many people don't know their sexuality and it is an ever hard concept to figure out for yourself- throughout high school, and throughout your life! Maybe you do know, and i think that's wonderful :) , though some of us don't and that's okay too.
Queer
Queer means you identify as "non-heteronormative" or not under the perceived "normal" gender or sexualities like cisgender or heterosexual. Don't worry you're completely normal whether you fit under these "normal" standards or not.
